PostHeaderIcon A Good Idea at the Time

Well it is amazing what your brain comes up with at 4.30am in the morning…

I was sitting at my computer as I always do at that time thinking about the day and writing out my priority list from most to least important.

When I hit the one about by own fitness training section, I had a great idea from a program off the Cross Fit site.

I also had the pleasure of one of the Succeed Personal Trainers Tuggeranong area join me in Sam this morning at Club Lime.

So I came up with this session:

The F….d Up Fifties

50 x 24″ box jumps

50 x jumping pull ups

50 x 16kg D/B swings

50 x walking lunges

50 x hanging knee to elbows

50 x 20kg push press

50 x back extension

50 x 30kg thrusters

50 x burpees ( so far I have done 280 burpees this week)

50 x double unders

For time….

My time: 40.41 ( please have a go at this someone and post a time in the comments below and let me know how you feel afterwards??)

What a s..t idea and I apologise to all the personal training clients that were training at Club Lime Tuggeranong this morning, as myself and Sam were in a world of hurt with this session.

This might make me crazy, but you know it is a great session when you have to carry a bin to each station with you  ( just in case)…

Anyway short and sweet tonight as I need some sleep after a big day.

Defiantly not for the faint hearted! I will mention that i was subjected to lying down for a good 15 minutes after this workout hanging on to that bin trying to stop myself from using it. As well as another solid 15 minutes of walking around in a daze.

    My time 46.32… i think.

Not happy about losing to Scott so I’ll be challenging him for a round 2!

  • Scott says:

I can vouch that he carried a bin around for about 20 mins during the session ( couldn’t get him over the line though)..

Hard to say that you lost to a bloke 16 years older than you… In your defense, for the majority share you did the same weight I did for most exercises ( not bad considering you are giving away 20kg to me).

No dramas doing a round two but I have seen some of your programs and there is no way I am letting you write it!!

I tried this on friday night but only just feel like talking to you now! *grin*
I knew it would be s..t but decided to give it a go anyway, just to see if I could. I haven’t actually tried some of these exercsies before and had to modify some of them.

    Total time: 1:02:30

The knee to elbow and burpees took aorund 10 minutes each, the burpees because I was still recovering from thrusters and the knee-elbow is just plain hard!
    My modifications - box jump 20″; D/B swing 12kg; push press; 16.5kg; thrusters 20kg.
I am determined to try again and post a new time!
I am interested also to see some of Sam’s programs, if they are worse then this, well I can hardly imagine…

  • Scott says:

    Hi Linda,

Awesome effort well done. Yes the the burpees & hanging knee to elbows are what bought myself and Sam undone as well… I am off to Orlando, Florida for a few weeks to do a few cross fit sessions there so when I get back, we will do and post a few of Sam’s sessions up on the blog’s.

    Kepp up the great work.

    Hi Scott,

Must say that the filthy fifties is one of my more favourite crossfit workouts…first did this one back in May and I did 26.37…you should try fight gone bad - the five rounds…now THAT is bucket worthy!!!

    enjoy, Megan.

  • Scott says:

    Hi Megan,

Can’t say it is one of my favourites….

Yes we have done a series of fight gone bad workouts over the last few months and they are one of the best combined workouts I have come across.

Thanks for post Megan. If you are in Canberra feel free to drop down to Tuggeranong Town Park every Saturday at 9am for a session.

    Scott
