PostHeaderIcon Fitness Business Awards

Hey all,

Well after a wonderful trip to the other side of the country attending the 2009 Fitness Australia Business Awards, we are pleased to announce that we have come back with the BIG award.

Yes we have been fortunate enough to again WIN the:

2009 Australian Personal Training Business of the Year

For the second year running we have been fortunate enough to have been judged not only Canberra’s, but Australia’s Best Personal Training Organisation.

We have now won every award available for 2009 and I believe this is a testament to our dedication and passion for helping change as many people’s lives as possible.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our trainers both past and present and of course our clients.

Without such a wonderful group of friends and clients our organisation would not be where it is today and we are grateful for your support over the last five years.

Check out a clip from the awards night:

PostHeaderIcon I Need Your Help With This….

Ok, so as most of you know I have been fortunate enough to have been asked to sit a national panel of people along with myself as the Australian Fitness Expert.

Anyway, to make the night run  a bit smoother and not leave us totally out in the dark, they have been kind enough to send through an outline of a some of the questions and one of them has really stood out for me.

Most of our clients have kids of varying age and it is no NEWS FLASH that Australia is now the FATTEST country in the world…. and I was wondering if you could help me out before I sit on this panel on the weekend with a few answers to the great fat and weight loss debate??

Help Wanted

fat-kid-2

Who’s role is it to turn the state of the nation around?? Is it up to the government, fitness trainers and clubs, the individual??

How can we help our kids? What can fitness trainers, clubs, Government do that could help this cause?

I would love to hear your feedback on this, and if I like it, it may even make national Television on the panel when I talk about this topic!!!

sunset

Well it has come to that time where we head off into the sunset for the final awards nights of the year.

We are packing our bags bags and heading to Perth for the 2009 Australian Fitness Business of the Year awards at the beautiful Sheraton Hotel in Perth.

It is set to be a huge evening, with Australia’s best trainers, Personal Training Businesses and the best health clubs in Australia all in attendance to see who can claim the award of Australia’s Best Fitness Business.

I have also been fortunate enough to have been asked to sit an expert panel of members for an open forum on the fitness industry, on where it has come to where it heading.

I am honoured to have been asked as  Australia’s leading Fitness Expert, so a big thank you from me goes out to the Australian government and Fitness Australia  for the opportunity to sit on the panel. I am looking forward to sitting with some of Australia’s leading government officials and Australia’s leading journalists.

We have been fortunate enough to make the finals and we are hoping to be the first company to win this illustrious award two years in a row.

We only got here because of our wonderful staff & clients, so a big thank you to you all.

Wish us luck as we head to the other side of the country for a few days.

P.S. Here is my last cross fit training session I thought you might like to have a go at:

A version of ‘Fight Gone Bad’, which entails picking 5 exercises, each 1 minute in duration, completing as many good reps as possible, x three rounds.

30kg thrusters ( lighter as my knee is just coming good)

Double Unders ( skipping)

Pull Ups

Dips

Rower

So the idea is to add up each round of reps and combime them for a total score.

My score: 284

Certainly not one of my best performances, but a good comeback session that had me close to the bin…

Not sure if I will get back to the blogs this week, I will see you all on the other side ( hopefully with the Australian Personal Training Business of the Year award in my hand).

PostHeaderIcon Boot Camp Canberra in Action

Hey all,

Been a few days between posts.

I have been away for a few days and unable to reach a computer. I will post about that later in the week with a few pics of some fun times we had.

Anyway just shot some video footage of one of our Boot Camp Canberra groups having a great time in the early ours of the morning.

Check it out:

See anyone you know??

Had a great sessions and gave them something more like a strength interval session, that is basically short bursts of high intensity work with short breaks in between.

Across the fitness industry now this really seems to be the most effective way to train people for a variety of fitness reasons:

1. burn more calories in and after the session

2. work more muscles with functional training

3. works for the trainer as the clients cannot give you to much lip back because they are too tired to argue

4. a more efficient way to train

5. less time required to train

6. lessons the chance of injury as less load required for the sessions

7. again clients don’t argue so much…

8. helps with weight loss

Do you have a view on training systems?? Have you tried something else that is really working for you?

I would love to hear about it in the comments section below.

PostHeaderIcon Crazy Ideas!!!

Hey all,

Not sure what the hell man-in-fog-canberra-trainercomes over me somedays when I am planning out a training session…

I thought it a good idea to step up the training regime a little bit this week. The session I posted earlier in the week, still has me in a world of leg pain, but I soldiered on today.

I designed a 30,20,10 plan today which basically means I selected five exercises and did 30 reps of each, 20 & then 10.

Here is the session for you if you wish to try it? Feel free to give me your time and feedback below:

burpee to 24′ box squat jump

20kg barbell alternate shoulder press (hold bar length ways & lift over head to other shoulder)

double unders ( skipping)

8kg M/B throws

30 cals on the rower

Then repeated the sets for 20 & 10 reps

Time: 18.44

Made it more of a cardiovascular style of fitness session, as yesterday as I had done a heavy shoulder and chest workout and the body was telling me that it needed a break from the heavy weights.

Just downloaded one of my Personal Training clients busting out a ‘Dirty Thirty” cross fit session at Club Lime Tuggeranong. Check it out:

Hey Everybody,

Did you know that there is only seven weeks till Christmas Day?? Have you started your shopping yet?

christmas-tree-web-ready1Now is the chance to really make some inroads into the indulgences we know we are all going to have.

It is time to step up your training and work a little bit harder on those eating habits for a few weeks before the Christmas festivities really take over…

So why not squeeze an extra session or two into the coming weeks to help you along the way. For those currently at Boot Camp keep up the great work. We have a Saturday Super Session now running that you might really enjoy?

Or possibly add in a small group Personal Training session. Get a small group together and one of our staff will do the rest.

For those reading this that are not a Succeed Boot Camp Canberra member then NOW is the time to join in.

It is not to late and for this week only it will only cost you $10 a week to attend ( for new clients only and to be paid upfront) for the next six weeks ( a total of $60), and you could lose 6kg in that time before Christmas.. not bad huh. Just ask Toby at Lanyon Boot Camp who has lost 8kg in the first six weeks.

If you wish to take us up on this one time offer simply email admin@succeed.com.au for the forms and payment process.

Keep up the great work everybody.
